Initiatives
We donate our expertise and creative services to several initiatives each year that spark our curiosity, passion, and align with our values around supporting environmental and social justice initiatives and fortifying our local community.
Through this work, our goal is to improve the lives of people and protect the planet, starting where we are, in the heart of the Hudson Valley, all while taking more creative license than we typically do with client work.

Nancy J. Brousseau Community Park
background
We designed, painted, and installed a mural for a new pocket park in Philmont, NY along with architect Julia Sedlock and landscape designer Lauren Schneider. We did historical research, conducted community outreach and worked with various stakeholders. After designing the mural, we worked with a team of volunteer painters and installed the mural panels in the park.
We named the park in honor of a beloved community member and her contributions to the village. The name was selected through community outreach by village residents. The village held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new park on Philmont Community Day.
approach
The mural depicts a map of the Village of Philmont where the mural is located highlighting our historical waterways and mill buildings.
The handlettering and illustration was inspired by found type from historical paraphernalia and maps.

Summit Lake Conservation Group
background
Summit Lake Conservation Group, a local conservation and ecological stewardship group, approached us to help them develop a brand strategy and identity, messaging, a website, lawn signs, and print and digital marketing collateral.
approach
We created a logo that depicts the boundary of the Village of Philmont, where the conservation is based, and a heart surrounding Summit Lake, the reservoir that used to power our historical mill buildings and “the heart of Philmont” as we dubbed it in our messaging.
We extended the identity across physical and digital touch points and supported the group in protecting the lake, raising funds, and fighting multiple lawsuits with developers and the village.

Columbia County Volunteer Firefighters Association
background
The CCVFA approached us to help them develop a special logo to commemorate their 95th anniversary, to use in merchandise and promotional materials for their annual convention. The association is made up of members from Columbia County's 32 volunteer fire departments.
APPROACH
We reviewed their paraphernalia and merchandise from conventions past, and created a hand drawn and typographic logo for the event.
They used the logo for promotional materials and to create hats, t-shirts, challenge coins and mugs to sell.

Purpose Cooperative
BACKGROUND
Sophie is a founding member of Purpose Cooperative, a nonprofit community makerspace, coworking space and food pantry.
She worked with fellow member Brandon Gamm to create a brand architecture and visual identity for the organization and extend it across signage and and print & digital marketing materials.
APPROACH
Together, we developed a logo system that will allow for endless flexibility and additional sublogos as the organization adds programs and initiatives in the future.
A simple arched wordmark for the overarching organization, Purpose Cooperative, is paired with different sub wordmarks to represent the organization’s current three subbrands— Makerspace, Coworking, and Pantry.
